Carla Turnquist (Heintz)
Carla grew up in Stettler, Alberta. She was raised in a family supported by both agriculture and oil and gas. Carla went on to earn a Diploma in Rehabilitation Services from Red Deer College, a Bachelor Degree in Community Rehabilitation & Disability Studies from the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine and eventually a Master of Science Degree in Psychology from Capella University. Although Carla’s PhD in Psychology is about 65% completed, she recently made the transition from this research-based program to a Doctorate in Psychology (PSYD) to better broaden and strengthen her clinical skills. Carla aims to be Dr. Carla by the end of 2023!
In her two decades of counselling, Carla has worked as a school counsellor and eventually a counselling clinical supervisor in public education, as a seniors counsellor in home care, as a consultant in the public healthcare system and as a provisional psychologist at a rural post-secondary institution. Since 2014, she has owned and operated Summit Psychology Inc.
Carla is registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) as a Provisional Psychologist. She also holds voluntary memberships with the Psychologists Association of Alberta (PAA), the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) and the American Psychological Association (APA).
In her spare time, Carla unwinds and rejuvenates in nature. She is well known for her last minute, spontaneous motorhome trips to the mountains with her son, Finn. She dreams of one day piloting her own airplane and in her spare time, Carla continues to work towards her private pilots license.
